Dr. Scottie L. King was born in Kentucky to a blue-collar coal mining family. When the coal mine was closed and Grandfather John King passed away with lung cancer, the King family moved away and settled in Arlington, Texas. After having grown up seeing his Grandfather and Father mining coal every day and struggling with related health problems, Dr. King decided that he wanted to pursue a profession that would improve people's health and battle sickness and disease. He plowed into his studies and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 1993. In that same year, he was accepted into UT Southwestern as a medical student. He graduated from UT Southwestern in 1997 and conducted his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Saint Paul Hospital. In 2000, he graduated and received his board certification as a Medical Doctor specializing in family practice.
In 2000, Dr. King opened his practice, Firewheel Family Practice, with a partner. Since 2000, Dr. King has provided medical care for over 11,000 patients throughout the area, including Sachse, Wylie, Murphy, Garland, Mesquite, Rowlett, Denton, Dallas, Rockwall, Allen and McKinney.
During his patient consultations, he takes time to thoroughly examine and address the patient's needs and is very attentive to each and every one of his patients. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. King also provides training to Medical Assistant students and Nurse Practitioners. He believes that by providing proper training to the students of healthcare, ultimately many more patients beyond his personal reach will reap the benefits of his knowledge and experience.
Dr. King is excited to open his new medical office, King Family Medical. The new facilities will allow him to continue to provide quality health care and reach a much larger number of patients.
